Who we are
Your “bumprint” is the total climate impact of sitting in an aeroplane seat, and Bumprints exists to help you shrink it. We are a UK charity with a simple mission: to help travellers understand the climate impact of flying, and to give them the tools to fly better, and to fly less.
Through our website, quiz, checklists and monthly newsletter, we translate the science of aviation and climate into plain, useful, judgement-free guidance, so anyone who loves to travel can make choices that add up.
Our story
Bumprints was founded in 2025 by Katie Thompson, a former pilot and head of flight safety, including at a private jet company. When she saw the industry’s sustainability record up close, she could not unsee it, and she left to do something about it. What began as research became a book, then a website, and now a registered charity, built alongside co-founders Hannah Dick and Amrita Jayakumar, and a small, dedicated team who love to travel and want to do it better.
In her words
“We have an important job to do: helping passengers fly less and fly greener. But the bigger picture is this: every mindful choice a traveller makes sends a demand signal the airlines can’t ignore. Charity status lets us grow our education work, reach far more travellers, and turn up the volume on that signal until the industry has no choice but to follow.”
– Katie Thompson, Founder
